A good lesson plan is well-organized, thoughtful, builds skills, and covers curricular material clearly.  A great lesson plan is also fun for the students, keeps their attention, and creates truly memorable musical experiences.

Music is not necessarily an easy subject for many students because it can be very abstract.  Notation, for example, is a language of pictures and symbols instead of using letters and numbers.  Breaking down the barrier to the abstract is easier for students when they have a well-designed and scaffolded approach and fun, memorable lessons and activities along the way.
